We are proud of all that you did this year and how far you have come;cultivating confidence and community has been your jam.

In a world brimming with diverse beauty, embracing and loving your Afro hair is a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and communal celebration. It's about more than just hair; it's a powerful embrace of identity, culture, and self-acceptance. As we celebrate Kwanzaa and end this year we wanted to let you know we see how far some of you have come and we are proud to be in your community.

The Journey to Self-Acceptance

It's about unlearning societal beauty standards and embracing the uniqueness of natural hair. Initially, it might involve challenges—learning how to care for and style Afro hair, understanding its texture, and celebrating its versatility. For instance, earlier this year our CEO was interviewed by Webby winners "Recess Therapy" and she stated "Mom has been wearing an afro for like a month now and so far she feels powerful and free". That was absolutely true. Though I have been natural for over 10 years i had just begun to wear my afro outside. What I have learned is just like with any style you have to train your hair in the styles you want it to conform to. You may have afro hair but if you want "the perfect afro" you will have to learn your hair and wear "the imperfect afro" as it molds to what you would like to see.

This journey is more profound than styling routines; it's a path toward self-love. It's about discovering the beauty in the curls, coils, and kinks that make each person's hair uniquely theirs. Embracing Afro hair isn't merely a physical transformation; it's a mental and emotional one—a journey toward self-empowerment and confidence.

The Power of Embracing Authenticity

By embracing your Afro hair, you stand as a testament to authenticity. Your confidence becomes contagious, inspiring others to embrace their natural selves. It's a ripple effect that extends beyond individuals, fostering a community built on acceptance and celebration of diverse beauty.

When we embrace who we are, including our natural hair, we create a space where everyone feels empowered to express themselves authentically. It's about building a community that celebrates individuality, diverse hair textures, and cultural identities without judgment or constraints.

Empowering and Celebrating Communities

Communities thrive when diversity is celebrated and embraced. By leaning into our authentic selves, including our Afro hair, we contribute to the creation of confident and empowered communities. It's about encouraging conversations that challenge beauty norms, celebrate differences, and uplift each other.

Support networks and platforms that promote the love and acceptance of Afro hair play a crucial role in this journey. They provide resources, guidance, and a safe space for individuals to learn, share experiences, and find inspiration. In the coming year we have partnered with some amazing companies (and other influencers) to host events that will provide resources for all of you that would like them across a spectrum. We will also be moving our outreach from behind the scenes to allow you to also become more involved as we focus on community.

Closing Thoughts for 2024

Embracing your Afro hair is an empowering journey—one that cultivates self-love, confidence, and a sense of belonging. It's about more than a hairstyle; it's a celebration of identity and an afrommation of one's worth. By embracing our authentic selves, we contribute to the creation of confident communities that cherish diversity.

Let's continue this journey together, embracing our natural beauty, inspiring confidence, and building communities that celebrate the uniqueness of every individual. Together, we stand strong, proud, and beautiful in our diversity. We hope you find peace, joy, courage, and confidence in the New Year.💫✨
